Baccarat Rules

It is obviously and clear, that in order to play baccarat it is necessary to learn and follow some baccarat rules; It's like any other great online casino game such as 777 roulette or blackjack, where one should learn the rules before playing. This section will tell you in details about the object of baccarat, card values, bets to make, steps to follow and commission to pay.

Object

The object and goal of the game is the only one: to get a number of points closer to 9 and win in such a way. 9 is the maximum number of points you can get from you hand of cards, so, some players consider it to be strange a bit that the name of the game means "zero" when zero is the worst variant to get in this game.

Table and bets

Baccarat game is played in a separate casino room at a special baccarat table: 14 players maximum can sit at this table and take part in a game, and 3 dealers are at the table - one main dealer who leads the game and 2 dealers who help the main one to take wagers and observe the game.

There are only 3 possible bets at baccarat: Player (Punto), Banker (Banco) and Tie; and a player makes his/her bet on which option s/he believes to win. Two hands of two cards are dealt faced down to a dealer and a player and the results determine a winner.

It is important to remember that there is no exact person (a player or a dealer) who wins a hand: an option, not a person, wins baccarat; you can be a player but put your bet on "Banker" and vice versa.

Every player at baccarat table can play a role of a dealer too: players change each other and become a dealer one by one.

Card values: how to count?

Baccarat game is usually played with 6-8 decks of 52 cards; all of them are shuffled and then two cards are dealt faced down both to a dealer and a player. After that it is a high time to look at your cards and determine what option wins - Player, Banker or Tie. But how to count your points? For doing that you should know the principle of how cards are valued. So:

2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9's = equal to their number: 2'a gives 2 points, 7's - 7 points etc.

10's, Jacks, Queens, Kings = 0 points

Aces = 1 point

All card hands are valued in a way that the maximum you can get from one hand is 9 points: even if the sum of your cards is more than 9 they will be recounted in a right way.

For example, if you have 7's and 8's it means that your final result will be 6 points:

7 + 8 = 15 = 1 + 5 = 6

The rule of the 3rd card

Depending on what points a player or a dealer gets out of their first two cards, they have a right to take the third one in order to improve the results; this rule is called to be the rule of the third card and it works in a following way:

For a player:

8 - 9 points = a player does not take the 3rd card

0 - 5 points = a player takes the 3rd card

6 - 7 points = a player chooses whether to take the 3rd card or not

For a dealer:

8 - 9 points - a dealer does not take the 3rd card

7 points - a dealer stands

6 points - a dealer takes the 3rd card if the 3rd card of a player is 6 or 7

0 - 5 points - a dealer takes the 3rd card depending on what is the 3rd card value a player has

House edge and commission

Player = 1, 36 % of house edge

Banker = 1, 17 % + 5% commission

Tie - 14, 42 % of house edge
